Spring In Cornwall

34

Over the course of the last few weeks, many prospective travelers have asked me what springtime is like in Cornwall. Here’s my answer.

Spring comes earlier to Cornwall than the rest of England, due to the Gulf Stream. Cornwall comes alive with spring; it’s not just the gardens that are spectacular but also the fields and hedgerows. It’s a visual paradise. Add to that the cacophony from insects and birds, and you get that sweet spring feeling of goodbye to winter, and the promise of good times ahead. Spring really is a special time here. Or to borrow more poetically from Rainer Maria Rilke, “Everything is blooming recklessly. If  it were voices instead of colours there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night.”

To get a firsthand sense of spring in Cornwall, watch this short video kindly supplied by the LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN (a highlight on the Dacey’s Cornish Tours itinerary).
